President's Report 2012

December 8, 2012

Dear members and friends of the Minnesota Hungarians:

This is the time of the year when we look back at our accomplishments of the last year with a great sense of gratitude and contemplate dreams for future.

It is also the time when the Christian world celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. Other groups living on our eclectic planet may be celebrating the customs values. All of these festivities, however, have one common denominator. They are all based on humanity's eternal quest for sharing, harmony, camaraderie and peace. The basic customs and traditional practices of Christmas season, based on the teachings of Christ, call for helping thy neighbor, compassion, generosity and honesty. Our thoughts and efforts, whether we believe in the divinity of Christ or not, must be centered on these values. We should remind ourselves of the dangers of excessive selfishness, materialism and commercialization.  We must think of caring, sharing, compassion and love.

The spirit of Christmas must be the main reason for our celebration.

I wish you and your loved ones good health, happiness and a more peaceful world in the new year, and always.

Csilla Grauzer, President

Minnesota Hungarians
