Obituary from the Star Tribune: Horvath, Lajos "Louis" Age 84 of Columbia Heights passed away unexpectedly on March 13, 2021. Preceded in death by parents, survived and deeply missed by his wife Edit, daughter Lara, sister Margit (Hungary), sister in law Borbala and her husband Gabor (France), close friends Timea and Tamas, relatives and friends. Lajos was born on September 28, 1936 in Kunhegyes, Hungary. He left his native country after the uprising in 1956. He attended the University of Pisa (Italy) with a Ford scholarship studying geology. After receiving his diploma and doctorate, he emigrated to the USA and settled in Minnesota. He worked at the Minneapolis Electric Steel Castings Company until they closed the Columbia Heights operation. He then became a self employed businessman. He loved linguistics, singing, swimming, traveling and working around the house, but most of all he loved people. He was a long standing member of the Minnesota Hungarians organization. His memorial service will be postponed to a later date due to the pandemic safety concern.
