The Minnesota Hungarians Annual Meeting for 2023 took place at Wolfe Lake Condominiums and also online via Zoom. The meeting featured annual reports and also the election of officers and board members. A reception followed the meeting.

The University of Minnesota’s Center for Austrian Studies presented Minnesota Hungarians Member Jim Oberly (Professor of History Emeritus, University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire) introducing the English-language publication of Mária Mádi's World-War-II-era memoir, Budapest Blackout, the diary of a Roman Catholic Hungarian physician living in Budapest during World War II. The Minnesota Hungarians cosponsored this event.

The Minnesota Hungarians annual 1956 commemoration, “Remembering the Anniversary of the 1956 Revolution and Freedom Fight,” included poetry, videos, and recognition of freedom fighters who moved to Minnesota. Following the program and refreshments, we held our Annual Meeting, electing a new President, Gabriella Sinka Heath.

The Minnesota Hungarians enjoyed our Hungarian Harvest Festival, with Hungarian food, the Vidéki Hungarian Dancers, the Szászka Hungarian folk group, a petting zoo, grape stomps, vineyard and winery tours, and a new event: Bingo!
