Magdolna Fulop

In memoriam - Magdolna Klára Fülöp (1927-2009)

Magdi passed away on October 27, 2009, after long battle of serious illness. Pál and Magdi Fülöp came to Minneapolis in November 1971. They became members of the Minnesota Hungarians organization. Both of them had common interest in Hungarian folk arts, teaching it for a while at the International Institute and creating beautiful pieces. Their artwork was acknowledged at the MN State Fair for years winning first place awards. Magdi embroidered many beautiful pillowcases, tablecloths, runners. Their artistic work was exhibited at the Festival of Nations for years.

The family and friends knew of her fragile health, of the long history of her heart problem. In the past decade Pal and Magdi lived a quiet life in their home withdrawing from about all community activities.

Our goodbye to Magdi is expressed in a verse of a beautiful poem written by Dezso Kosztolanyi Hungarian poet:

Okuljatok mindannyian e példán,
Ilyen az ember. Egyedüli példány.
Nem élt belőle több és most sem él,
s mint fán se nô egyforma két levél,
a nagy időn se lesz hozzá hasonló.
